Chava`s Mexican Restaurant in Saint Louis

Always delicious! Chimichanga, quesadilla, fried tacos, guacamole, salsa, MARGARITAS (frozen with their fresh fruit is the best) all fabulous!

Went to Chava’s for this guy’s future bride’s special birthday. Hubs and I had never been there, but it is now our favorite Mexican restaurant. Ok was a perfect server, very attentive and caring. The food was totally amazing, with ample portions. The staff were very accommodating to our families, and we were very grateful.

This place rocks. Food was excellent. Service was attentive. The place was clean. We ordered just the chicken tacos and 6 piece wings. The tacos' ingredients tasted very fresh. And the wings! Wow were they unexpectedly good. I would try to get them a little hotter next time, but all in all pretty tasty. Salsa was also freshy and had a little kick to it.

One of the very best Mexican restaurants in St. Louis! They've got a diverse menu and delicious food all around. The service is quick and friendly. And it's in a fun, unique neighborhood in Soulard

Service was incredible, the host, the waitress, the buss boy, all where fantastic. We all got new drinks before it was half empty. The food was incredible as well. I’m very picky about wings and my family is from Southern California so they know Mexican food. Needless to say, those wings where the best I’ve had in years and the rest of our food was amazing. Don’t change a thing. You guys have really figured something out. Thank you.

I enjoyed the experience. As soon as I arrived I was greeted and placed on the wait list. I arrived at 12:04, smack dab in the middle of the lunch rush. Another joined me and we waited together. We were sat after 24 minutes. One thing I love about this place is that the chips, salsa, and water is on the table when you sit. Their efficiency in flipping tables is amazing. I read reviews about the steak, so I got the steak fajitas. My fiancé ordered the steak tacos. The overall ambience was top level. The crowd really loved the place. The food looked great coming out to everyone. The steak was just okay, to us, and combining that with the wait it dropped it down to 3 stars. we ate quickly, paid, and left - it was 1:08.

Best Mexican food in area by far. Drive more than 30 miles at least once a week to come here. Staff is always very attentive and never had a bad experience.

This place will not disappoint! I reccomend getting here early, because the place is small, but worth the wait. Every bite was amazing. The margaritas were strong & flavorful. Staff was friendly & helpful. I will be a returning customer. P

Foods great the host was not good at all said 20mins then seated 3 different groups of 4 before us even tho they showed up after us and was told 20min too. Then when questioned he said theres nothing he could do.

My new favorite Mexican restaurant!! I use to think that Chevys was the best Mexican restaurant in town (mostly because of their salsa) but this place beasts them hands down!!! The food is amazing and always fresh. And then there's the salsa. Fresh, tasty with a hint of cilantro!! Perfection!!!!

My husband and I love this restaurant! It's so cozy and the food tastes great!!! We enjoyed looking around the building has such character. Our waitress was very nice and helpful with suggestions! We left with smiles and full stomachs!!!

Best Mexican in St. Louis!!!! Nobody has been able to knock Chava's off my number one list for twenty years - not even close!Great atmosphere and hip crowd. There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a large bar. I have tried almost everything on the menu and I like everything! Yummy, spicy and cooked just right.The service is fast and friendly. Don't miss this one!

Have been only twice so far, but the service and food has been outstanding both times and we have highly recommended Chava's to other people because it's just that good. Staff have been very friendly and accommodating thus far, too. I recommend their BBQ Chicken Quesadilla, it's amazing.

Very good food and drinks. Very Quick service. Priced alittle high but wont stop me from coming back. Make sure if your coming with a party of people that everyone show up on time because they will not seat you till then.

This was a surprise visit for me, as a friend brought me. The staff are friendly, service wad great and the food was served quickly and still maintained its goodness. Great place for the family or for happy hour. I recommend with 5 stars.

Fried ground beef tacos were good!

This restaurant has great customer service. We didn't have to wait long and our food came right away. Wow, the food was so delicious. I will never eat at chimichangas ever again because Chava's is so much better and the price is affordable. I can't wait to come back!❤

Quick service and food with great flavor served piping hot provided our group of friends with a wonderful opportunity to catch up. While busy, the layout of the place allows for some level of intimacy for small to mid sized groups.

By far the best food, service, atmosphere and value. I cannot say enough great things about this place. The workers go above and beyond. I have NEVER had a bad server there...you cannot say that about a lot of restaurants!

Warm chips and scrumptious salsa. The food was delicious and the service prompt and friendly. Definitely going to tell my friends and return myself.

Perfect little place to eat and relax. The drinks were on point with the flavor and the food was even better than that. The service was tops with never having an empty glass, and being all around sweethearts. Nothing negative to say at all. Could not recommend it more. 5 out of 5 all around.

This is a smaller place but the food is good. The menu is pretty small and it's priced a little higher, but that's to be expected in this area.The salsa is smoky so you'll like it if that's your style. The food is different and hard to explain. The ground beef is not what you'd expect, not what you'd get at most Mexican restaurants. It's more shredded beef and seasoned in a different way.Overall it's a good place but admittedly not my favorite Mexican because it's not my style. But it's a popular place and I'd suggest trying it for yourself for good Mexican food.

Wow! what a great place. if you go, try the tacos they are great, Lite and crisp and full of flavor. The atmosphere is quaint and inviting. Highly recommend!!

First time going there and the food was great. The service was so friendly and fast. We were seated right away. Would definitely recommend!

Service was decent. The food and drink was seemingly less than average. While creative and unique in the ideas, the course lacked flavor. Perhaps some cilantro added in would help with seasoning. Presentation was good but seasoning, it is necessary and the meals were begging for it. The drink, for a margarita, very sweet. Do you want to taste sweet and sour only or sweet and sour with a zing of tequila? In this case, you get sweet and sour. Not a bad establishment, but even the best of restaurants have room for improvement.

We absolutely love this place. Incredible margs and queso, great food, and we’ve always had very friendly staff. The perfect place to eat in Soulard!

This is a very likeable, inviting place -- great interior plus ample sidewalk seating. The menu has all the usual fare, plus specialty items such as the custom burrito. The nachos with chicken are really good. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. And the food is flavorful, quick and priced right. In all, makes for a very enjoyable dining experience in the heart of Soulard.

This is my go to Mexican spot. Best service in town, quality food and great staff (that’s been around for years). Especially enjoy sitting outside at a patio table to people watch.

Chavas is always so good and they give you great portions as well.

Had the fried tacos and a tamale. Great food. Salsa is made fresh and has a slight bit of heat. I will be back!

Our waitress was amazing. Very friendly and attentive. The food was good. There's only one dessert item and I highly recommend getting it: fried cheese cake!

Love this place! Newly in the area and this place was right across the street. Quick service and good meals. We ordered online & didn’t get any chips with our meal which was a bummer because I’m used to getting complimentary chips & salsa at Mexican restaurants, but delicious nonetheless:))

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in St. Louis. The chips and salsa are excellent, and the salsa is the best in St. Louis and quite addicting. The staff is very attentive and efficient. The menu is very reasonably priced. I am a big fan of the beef tacos and ranchero chicken tacos. Both pack a lot of flavor and are quite filling with the rice and beans. Their COVID-19 takeout service is easy to use with minimal contact.

Big fan. Stuffed peppers are good, staff is nice, food is cheap. Good assortment of dishes.

A place I will return. Food was hot and fresh, my salad was huge, and the margaritas are fabulous. I had the fresh fruit strawberry and I highly recommend. It took a while to get waited in but overall was an enjoyable experience.

Absolutely fantastic place.we went today for lunch and when I stepped in the place, the smell told me that I have come to a right place. Very friendly and fast service.The chips and salsa that was served was just superb tasting. Salsa taste told me that it was made fresh. I do make it at home in summer with fresh ingredients. I will be visiting this place if I go to St. Louis again.The food was very nice and great tasting. Just can't describe the wonderful feeling I had at this place. Keep up the good work . A+++

Food is tasty!I order Fajitas and it didn’t came on hot metal plate is it should be served.When I ask the waitress why she said they don’t have it.

It’s like a Tex mex food I did not like it at all. Never coming back to this restaurant. They don’t have that many options of food and they don’t have fresh waters that have taste like horchata etc...

This place is amazing!! I have been coming here for many years and the quality has never been less than perfect. The staff is always friendly and checks in with the table just enough. Not too much or too little. I always get the stuffed peppers because they are just amazing! But the peppers are until they run out so get there early! You guys are awesome keep up the excellent work!!

Delicious. Chava's is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever dined at. The food is amazing, and the servers are very friendly. I can't recommend a better place to eat at. The restrooms are also extraordinarily sparkling clean.
